Primary Leading Learning Networks

Notes from Leading Learning Networks meetings

Primary Leading Learning Network Programme April 2010 - March 2011

The Leading Learning Network is a package dedicated to promoting professional learning communities in National Curriculum subjects and several aspects or themes. It provides education professionals with the opportunity to meet and share their learning with colleagues from schools, Advisers and other agencies.

The agenda for each Leading Learning Network is published on this site about 6 weeks beforehand. This will give details of contents and venue.

What are the Leading Learning Networks for?

  • To establish and sustain a network that promotes leading and learning in the specified subject or aspect

  • To enable participants to act as effective leaders

  • To sustain professional satisfaction, motivation, enthusiasm and confidence

  • To model the best features of an effective learning community, recognising that every teacher is a learner and that learning is most effective when it embraces a blend of learning preferences

Who should attend these sessions?

  • Subject or aspect leaders

  • Other teachers

Who will lead these sessions?

A ‘project leader’ facilitates each separate Leading Learning Network and ensures that associated professionals are invited to contribute to the group. Through on-going dialogue with the project leader, group members will determine their own ways of working and focus for each session.

How will these sessions differ from the National Strategy briefings that are provided at no cost to schools?

National strategy briefings are designed specifically to keep abreast of developments in the various DCSF initiatives. Leading Learning Networks will take in the widest possible range of subject and aspect development, including news from QCA and TDA, subject and aspect associations and other relevant professional bodies.
